Travis did not get back in the room until close to 9:30 last night. They did not let us see him until close to 11:00 p.m. Dr. Lamberti, our surgeon, came an updated us on his status and how the surgery went. According to him, Travis surgery went really well. They installed a pacemaker, replaced the Sano shunt with a bigger one and enlarged the Pulmonary Arteries. Since they kept him heavily sedated throughout the night, Nicole and I got a couple of hours of sleep at the Ronald McDonald House.
We did get back here for rounds this morning and a little meeting with Travis' cardiologist, Dr. Levy. He explained to us in more detail the anatomy of Travis heart and the reasons they performed the surgery they did in comparison to the normal Glenn operation. We will discuss future plans for Travis with Dr. Levy and Dr. Lamberti at a further date. Preliminary talk was of him not getting the Glenn because of some obstruction of the branches of the Superior Vena Cava. His anatomy would not take to the Glenn operation very well and they would prefer to go with a safer route. They might try and perform a Fontan in 9-12 months. For now we just want to recover from this surgery and we will worry about the next in a couple of weeks.
